Crystals A - Z

While there are well over 5,000 minerals recognized by the geological community (eek!), about 624 are considered to be part of the group called gemstones, which is the official categorization of the types of crystals that people use for jewelry, gridding, healing, collecting, and so forth.

Of the 624, maybe half of those are the names we are most familiar with in the crystal community. That is still a lot of crystals.

Over the years I have found a core group of crystals that I feel can meet the needs of

most people, are readily available and reasonably priced.

The trifecta of crystal aspirations!

This doesn’t mean you won’t find a crystal that’s not on my list that you simply love

and that works extraordinarily well for you.  What it does mean is that if you’re just

getting into crystals, or just getting deeper into crystals, I am here to tell you that you

do not need hundreds of different types of stones because “this one is the only one

that can do that thing”.  With a few exceptions, when you hear or read statements

like that, it’s people trying to sell you more of their crystals.

Sly business man in glasses looking at c

I myself own more types of crystals than the ones listed here. What I find, however,

is that I keep coming back over and over again to the ones on this list.

That tells me something.

So on to the crystals!

Core Crystals: I am going to list the 14 core crystals first.  These are the ones I feel will meet most everyone’s needs. Basically, I chose two in each chakra category (see the page on Crystal Connections in the Chakras section of this site for more information) to ensure we have a “complete package” of strengths and abilities so to speak.

Having two in each category allows you choices in case you cannot easily find one of the crystals or just don’t like/don’t work well with one of the crystals, or for the really busy crystal people, gives you an alternate if you’re using the first one on a grid for example.

Alternatives: The next list is 10 of what I call “Special Stones” or simply the Alternatives.

I really like these crystals and they offer yet another option if you cannot find something from the core list.  You do NOT need to own these to accomplish most tasks; but I have

to admit, they are some of my favorites.

Special Stones: I know - three categories?  This is the last one - really.  This list contains

7 stones that are just extra special. Each has unique properties or does a better job

than other crystals in the same category.  Again, you do NOT need to own these to

achieve your goals.

Each list is in alphabetic order to make it easier to find or reference them later.

Core Crystals

Amazonite: Amazonite is a stone of communication. Internally, Amazonite helps us heal from past wounds and allows us to know the wonderful being that we really are. It imparts courage in a soothing and calming way, teaching us that we don’t need to listen to other’s judgement and criticisms because that is not our truth.  Externally, Amazonite helps us to see things from different perspectives, which makes it an excellent stone for conversations between people, whether work related or love relationships.  Amazonite is a stone of abundance and luck, and protects us from negative energy and those that would take advantage of us. Amazonite is a good aura cleansing stone, lending strength while balancing and healing our energies. It also has barrier filter qualities*.

Amazonite.jpg

Amethyst: Amethyst is considered one of the best all-around stones to own.

It’s calming and yet uplifting vibration is excellent for meditation and spiritual practices, and its ability to assist with psychic development and intuition is unmatched. There is a quiet, almost mystical serenity within Amethyst that brings grace and peace to those who work with it. It develops within us a sense of our own magical power. Associated with the Third Eye Chakra, Amethyst has been considered a true Seer Stone. As is typical with purple stones, it enhances mental perception and brings things into clear focus, allowing us to view what is really going on (whether in our heads or with external situations) from
a loving and compassionate stance. Amethyst is a great stress reducer and is exceptionally helpful with insomnia, addictions and headaches.

Amethyst.jpg

Aventurine (Green): Green Aventurine is a sweet stone that instills a light cheery energy with just a hint of humor. It is strongly connected to the Earth and to the Devic and Elemental realms making it a good stone for the garden and for general healing (and might just explain that little touch of humor/mischief). Do not mistake the word sweet to mean mild or weak. Green Aventurine is one of the premier stones for luck and manifesting wealth. It is a stone of opportunity and freedom, allowing you to liberate yourself from those things that limit your growth (both personal and financial). It has a gentle grounding quality and helps to harmonize the female/male energies within us.
It also has barrier filter qualities and is a good choice for gridding the home or yard.

Aventurine.jpg

Carnelian: Carnelian is the crystal of drive and determination. If you’re having issues with getting things started, keeping things going, or bringing it all to a successful conclusion, Carnelian can provide the energy to do it. Yet Carnelian is grounding and brings a warm and happy energy to everything you do; not the hyper or wound-up vibration one might expect. Carnelian helps us to stay centered while giving us a boost of confidence when we need it. To say this is the career stone would be a huge understatement. It enhances leadership capabilities and acts like a compass to keep us on the right track in money-making endeavors. Carnelian is known as the Singer’s Stone because it can clarify the
voice and aid
in opening up the throat chakra. But it is good for any performance one might engage in from company presentations to onstage performances.

Carnelian.jpg

Citrine: Citrine has a bright, fresh energy that brings feelings of joy and optimism.

It is a great stone for new beginnings and whenever you wish to reinvent yourself.
This crystal can enhance and engage your imagination and creativity, making it

an excellent stone to aid you in transforming your dreams into reality; otherwise known
as manifesting. Citrine is known as the Merchant’s Stone because of this association with manifestation and abundance. It can be especially helpful if you have mental blocks
about money or prosperity and is a great crystal for business owners. One of the most well-known attributes of Citrine is its ability to transmute
or dissipate negative energy.
This makes it a perfect choice for protection
against negativity of all kinds.

Citrine.jpg

Fluorite: Fluorite is an interesting stone because it has both spiritual qualities

and more practical, down-to-earth qualities. With regards to the spiritual side, Fluorite stimulates the Third Eye Chakra, enhancing psychic abilities. It is also good when engaging in devotional type activities, such as meditation or prayer since it aids in
cutting through the mind chatter and imparts a lovely, calming and connecting (to
higher realms) energy throughout the aura. On the more practical side, Fluorite is well-known for its ability to boost focus and concentration.
If you’re one of those people who over-thinks or over-analyzes everything, Fluorite is the stone for you. In the same vein, it can ease the decision-making process when you have too many ideas or opinions coming at you from other people. And last, but certainly not least, Fluorite can be used when you want to release old thoughts, ideas or habits that no longer serve you.

Fluoritejpg.jpg

Mookaite: Mookaite is a striking multi-colored gem that can only be found in Australia. Also referred to as Mook Jasper, Mookaite has a more invigorating vibration than most
of its Jasper siblings, which moves it into the realm of the
Sacral Chakra (as opposed to
the Root Chakra where most Jasper resides). This amazing stone connects us to the
energy of the ley lines and the Earth herself, providing a strong healing component and enlivening our own life energy.
Mookaite enhances our connection to our instinctual nature, allowing us to face new challenges and opportunities with a positive attitude
and youthful exuberance.  Mookaite is a wonderful stone for working with past life (or ancestor) issues
because it provides the ability to see to the heart of the matter, and
then
encourages us to move toward resolution with a sure and confident intention.

mookaite.jpg

Quartz (Clear): Clear Quartz, a.k.a. Rock Quartz is one of the most abundant

minerals in the earth’s crust (second only to feldspar). This is good news, since it’s

also the most amazing and versatile crystal you can have in your arsenal.  While I

will attempt to briefly describe what Quartz can do, the more accurate question is,

“What can’t this stone do?”

Clear Quartz is known as the Power Stone because it amplifies all other energy in

its vicinity. This includes the energy of other crystals, your thoughts and intentions,
healing, and so forth. Its laser focus brings clarity to all situations, magnifying the

path to the desired end goal. Quartz is a wonderful stone for spiritual practices of

all kinds, including meditation, communication with spirit helpers/angels, and past

life exploration, and can unlock psychic abilities you didn’t know you had (or boost

the abilities you are aware of). Clear Quartz is also considered the Master Healer

since it can address virtually any condition. In addition, it balances and strengthens

all the chakras, bringing them back to their natural (perfect) vibration.  It is

energizing in a soothing way and encourages a positive mood and optimistic outlook.

This is honestly the one stone every crystal tool kit should have.

Clear Quartz.jpg

Red Jasper: Above all, Red Jasper is an excellent grounding stone. It deepens

your connection to the Earth and Earth spirits and guardians, creating a stable

and soothing energy within you. Red Jasper is considered a stone for warriors,

energizing and stimulating your innate desire for justice and protection. As the Stone
of Endurance, it encourages you to take your time and enhances
your ability to stay with any activity through to the end. It can also assist with breaking up energy blockages or times when you might feel like you're in a rut. Determination is no stranger to this stone. This makes it a particularly valuable crystal to use in goal setting. Red Jasper teaches us to see the value in the simple things and to appreciate what we already have.
It is a great stone to
use for those who engage in shamanic journey work or astral travel.

Red Jasper.jpg

Rose Quartz: Rose Quartz is known as the Crystal of Unconditional Love.  While true, it is first and foremost the stone of self-love. Because without self-love, how can we love others? Once that is in place, this crystal can attract or enhance all types of loving relationships.  This wonderful crystal teaches compassion by instilling feelings of peace, tenderness and contentment and makes it easier to develop relationships with others.
The soft feminine energy of Rose Quartz infuses the entire aura with a Divine loving energy which brings healing and comfort and can be used to treat heartache/a broken heart as well as help to ease grief or trauma. Rose Quartz works to dissolve negative emotions like fear, anger, judgement and resentment and can be especially beneficial in healing emotional wounds.  It is an excellent sleep enhancer and combats nightmares.

rose Quartz.jpg

Selenite: Selenite is a crystal of the highest frequency, opening and activating the Crown and Soul Star chakras (but is clearing to all chakras). This stone connects us

to the higher realms as well as to ancient wisdom and knowledge (think Akashic Records) and is one of the premier crystals for accessing our spirit helpers and angels. For this reason, it is a perfect stone for meditation and spiritual work. Selenite is encoded with
the vibration of the New Age and her energy is meant to
be used for the greater good
of all beings. It is said that Selenite never needs to
be cleansed because its vibration transmutes any negative energy instantly. Recognized as one of the most powerful
crystals currently known to us, Selenite amplifies the power of other stones in its vicinity. This makes it ideal for gridding (board and home) as well as for shielding the home
against negative influences (especially when used with protective stones such as Black Tourmaline). Use Selenite to cleanse your aura and heal any tears or leaks that might
be there. It will also dissolve any intrusions that might have attached to us. It is recommended to use
a grounding stone as accompaniment whenever you’re working
with Selenite.

Selenite.jpg

Snowflake Obsidian: I prefer to use Snowflake Obsidian rather than Black Obsidian because while its energy is similar, it is lighter and softer than the solid black version (which, in my opinion, can be very harsh).  Like most black stones, it is grounding

and protective and can be especially good for anyone experiencing shock, trauma

or grief. Snowflake Obsidian aids us in releasing those beliefs and habits that no longer serve us or are hindering or limiting our full potential. It has a strong and solid vibration that encourages us to take charge of our lives. Snowflake Obsidian is a stone of critical thinking and seeing things as they are not how we’d like them to be.  But it also allows
us to see the silver lining in situations so that we can
work through whatever situation
we might find ourselves in.  Working with this
stone in meditation or journey work assists us in communicating with loved ones who have crossed, and will, with steady use,
reveal the true love and beauty
that is this universe.

Snowflake_Obsid.jpg

Sodalite: Sodalite is considered the Stone of Perception and seeing (and speaking) the truth. It teaches us to listen to the voice of our higher self (i.e., be true to ourselves) and
in so doing deepens our relationship with the universe. Sodalite has a gentle energy that instills in us a feeling of being safe. It banishes fear and worry, especially about what
others are thinking. Because once fear is gone, we can grow, expand and evolve. Sodalite reduces stress and encourages us to be more detached and not take things so personally (or ourselves so seriously). It fosters self-awareness and shows us how to meld our intellect with our spiritual gifts. Like many blue stones, it promotes confidence, communication and creativity. This stone shines in the area of communication, especially in the area of being able to work through disagreements by shedding a more positive light on the issue. These qualities make Sodalite an excellent stone to utilize with groups and teams.

Sodalite.jpg

Tiger’s Eye: Tiger’s Eye is, in my humble opinion, a true hidden gem. This bright and warm stone has a vibrant energy that promotes courage, conviction, determination and leadership. It encourages us to always put our best foot forward and trust in our own abilities. Called the Stone of Confidence, Tiger’s Eye is grounding and energizing at the same time, enhancing our stamina and ability to produce but doing so in a manner that prevents burn-out. With its brilliant gold bands contrasting with the darker brown areas, Tiger’s Eye teaches us the importance of balance between extremes. It has the ability to sooth tensions and promotes harmony in relationships of all kinds, facilitating the finding of common ground. Tiger’s Eye is also a stone of prosperity and good fortune. It has a protective quality with regards to your personal possessions and wealth.

Alternatives

Apophyllite: Apophyllite transmits a powerful, high-vibration frequency that creates a conscious connection between the physical and spiritual realms, allowing you to access the Akashic Records and past life experiences.  It is also said to be used to contact other beings, i.e., extraterrestrials, nature spirits, inter-dimensional beings. Apophyllite helps

you recognize and act upon the truth in all situations and can open you up to the possibility that you’re here for something more; to be something more. It is mentally

and spiritually calming and grounding and can be used to activate the third eye and to bring light and energy into the heart. Apophyllite is a phenomenal stone for meditation, astral travel, and shamanic journeying.  It sings of universal love and healing and brings

us hope and faith for a better tomorrow. This amazing crystal reminds us that we can

make mistakes and still evolve; still rise to a higher state of being.

apophyllite.jpg

Blue Kyanite: The high vibration and rapid transfers of energy from Kyanite create pathways where none existed before. Like a universal bridge, it is an extraordinary crystal of connection, opening the mind centers, enhancing telepathic and psychic abilities, bridging gaps in all communication efforts, and providing a link for transmitting or receiving healing energy. It immediately aligns the chakras and subtle bodies, bringing tranquility and a calming effect to the whole being. It is an exceptional stone for transitioning into deep meditative states.  Like Citrine, it is said that Kyanite does not retain negative energy so never needs clearing. Blue Kyanite is an excellent stone to
use in grid work because of its ability to powerfully communicate the energy of your
intent to the universe.

kyanite.jpg

Calcite: Calcite is probably best known for its extractive qualities: it can draw pain away from the body, whether emotional, physical or mental.  Hold a Calcite crystal to your
body where there is pain or discomfort and it will pull out the undesirable energy.
Similarly, to unblock a chakra simply place a Calcite crystal on the body above the
chakra and visualize it clearing the blockage. Since Calcite can be found
in so many
colors, you can use a color that correlates to the particular chakra to enhance the effect.  Calcite can also boost your learning abilities. If you’re trying
to acquire a new skill or language or preparing for an important examination, Calcite will act like a sponge and
aid you in absorbing all that knowledge and information. Calcite can ground you,
center you, and bring you inner peace.
If you’re unsure where you need to go, this crystal can help you discover your talents and abilities in order to find your life purpose. Calcite carries the energy of hope and positivity. It will help you create a new beginning. It will give you the strength to start over. By simply putting these crystals in a room, you can amplify and cleanse the energies present there which makes it an excellent Feng Shui ally.

Calcite.jpg

Howlite: Howlite is another hidden gem that I feel people overlook or underestimate.
But behind its unassuming exterior is a wonderful and powerful crystal. Howlite brings us grace and compassion as it encourages us to shift more and more towards integrity so that we no longer act in a self-serving manner. It encourages thinking things through and patience for the right time to act. Howlite teaches us to express our emotions calmly and tactfully, allowing us to say what is necessary, in a manner that is not offensive to the listener. As a memory aid, it inspires a thirst for knowledge and a desire to make ourselves better. Howlite dissolves fear, nerves
and panic (pulling/absorbing it out of us), and invites us to trust in the goodness of the universe.  Though energetic in vibration, Howlite has a calming effect  and helps to diffuse anxiety and anger. Howlite is a wonderful meditation aid, as it calms and clears the mind chatter. Native Americans used Howlite as a Shamanic stone during rituals. You can use Howlite to help you connect to your spirit helpers and it is an amazing aid during ritual and Shamanic journey work.

Howlite.jpg

Lepidolite: Lepidolite contains the mineral Lithium which is why it is said to be calming
and soothing and helpful in releasing stress, fear and anxiety. In addition, Lepidolite is associated with an ability to ease depression and lighten any heaviness in the heart. It is
a stone of acceptance and trust, and is often used to curb or eliminate obsessive
thoughts and addictive tendencies and to gently move us through the transition to a healthier more balanced and optimistic state.
Lepidolite is known to clear out all of the
old worn-out messages and voices from
the past that hold us back from happiness and success. It aids us in attracting supportive friends and colleagues, and gives us the ability to be a good friend as well. For those living in particularly stressful environments, Lepidolite can enhance our ability to maintain a calm and serene center.

Lepidolite.jpg

Moss Agate: It may surprise you to learn that Moss Agate is a stone of manifestation
and attracting wealth. However, the seeming life within this stone speaks loudly of abundance and plenty. Like most green stones it is also deeply connected to the Earth and to the spirits that inhabit her. When placed in gardens or houseplants, Moss Agate attracts devas and other nature spirits and can help your plants flourish. This beautiful crystal that looks like it has a garden growing inside it brings a spiritual awareness to everyday life. It encourages us to see the beauty of nature and the joy of being alive.
There is a wholesome quality to Moss Agate which can help us act from a place of
integrity and make good decisions that will serve us well in the future. Moss Agate, like most green stones, is known to be a strong healer and is especially good at boosting the immune system. In addition to the physical healing abilities of this amazing stone, it aids
us in releasing wounds from the past and radiates a wonderfully peaceful energy that refreshes the soul. Moss Agate reveals the bigger picture and reminds us to be patient, conscious and wise. It invites us to remain positive and not sweat the small stuff. It improves communication skills and improves relationships.  Moss agate is associated
with mid-wives and the reproductive process of birthing. .

Moss Agate.jpg

Pyrite: Pyrite is one of the premier stones for manifestation. Known as “Fools Gold”,
you are no fool if you have this powerful and amazing stone in your arsenal. Pyrite

is a stone of vitality, action and will.  It stimulates the creative flow of ideas and concepts and increases your ability to accomplish tasks you set out to do. In the area of manifestation, Pyrite shines its golden light on the most favorable path and beams your intention into the universe. This metallic stone is a unique protector-drawing energy
from the Earth and infusing it throughout the body and auric fields creating a defensive shield against negative energies, psychic manipulation, environmental pollutants, emotional attack and physical harm. In the workplace Pyrite encourages leadership qualities and is an ally for managers and those
working towards promotion.
Pyrite boosts self-esteem and self-confidence.

pyritejpg.jpg

Smoky Quartz: Smoky Quartz is a premiere grounding stone, dissipating both emotional and environmental negativity. It can absorb significant amounts of negative energy and release it into the Earth to be naturally neutralized. It is also one of the powerful barrier crystals which can be used to block geopathic stress and absorb electromagnetic smog
by power lines and electronic gear (which makes it perfect for gridding the house or yard). Smoky Quartz provides a vital shield against psychic attack. It relieves tension, stress, anxiety, panic attacks; and wards
off negative thinking. It can be helpful if you’re engaged in environmental healing, especially with groups as it fosters a spirit of cooperation.
It is extremely detoxing
to the body.  Smoky Quartz is a strong protection crystal; helping to guard the home and vehicles and while driving or traveling.  At work, it filters out bad moods, unspoken resentments, or disparaging remarks and generally shields against negativity. As if that wasn’t enough, Smoky Quartz promotes rational, pragmatic thought processes and aids with being more orderly and organized.

Smoky-Quartz,jpg.jpg

Sunstone: This lovely stone sparkles with the radiance of the sun and has been associated with the sun god RA, one of the foremost creation gods. Sunstone increases vitality and
is especially good for tasks or activities that require a high
level of energy throughout
the day. The vibration of Sunstone is joyful and enthusiastic and so can help you to maintain a positive and upbeat outlook. Sunstone is particularly useful to those who
are often fooled or taken advantage
of as this bright stone sheds its light on people and things around you bringing them out of the shadows. In the same vein, Sunstone highlights your true intentions (making it difficult to hide from yourself) and helps you
to understand
the intentions of others. It can be extremely beneficial if you’re not sure
where to
go next or what to do next as it can shed its light on the best path before you. Sunstone is also a confidence booster and keeps you motivated. This copper-included crystal is a stone of opportunity, guiding you (if you listen) to a life of abundance.

Sunstone.jpg

Tourmalated Quartz:    Tourmalated Quartz is another crystal I feel is frequently underestimated. Also known as Tourmalinated Quartz, this amazing stone shares the properties of its components – the grounding and deflection of negative energy found

in Black Tourmaline combined with the energy amplification and consciousness raising ability of Quartz.  And because of its dual nature, Tourmalated Quartz can help bring balance to the Yin and Yang energies within you as well as help you see both sides

of an issue or problem.

Let’s briefly review the component pieces.

Black Tourmaline, which is most commonly the type of Tourmaline found in Tourmalated Quartz, is a well-known stone in metaphysical circles.  Used for grounding and clearing, Black Tourmaline is also exceptional at blocking and transmuting negativity, making it

a wonderful stone for releasing fear and worry, and for protection of one's energy field.  Black Tourmaline is also used for clearing away electromagnetic pollution from

sources such as computers and cell phones making it an excellent choice for gridding

your property.

Clear Quartz is known as the master healer of the mineral kingdom and is often used

for enhancing spiritual practices and psychic abilities.  It has the energetic property of focusing and amplifying energies around it, making it a great tool for manifestation

and personal growth.  Meditating with Clear Quartz can help you attune to your soul’s purpose.  Clear Quartz can open and activate all the chakras and is a superb stone for

any type of healing (personal and with clients).

Put these two together and the combination creates a powerful ally for your spiritual arsenal. While Quartz can be an aid to those on the spiritual path, Black Tourmaline
keeps you well-grounded, thus avoiding that flighty out-of-body sensation that can

often result from working with higher vibration crystals. The Quartz side of this amazing stone allows us to access higher plains and realms, communicate with spirit helpers and angels, and even explore past lives, while the Black Tourmaline stands guard to ensure nothing unwanted comes through. Lastly, this energetic duo has a cleansing effect on
the aura, and is
great for energy healing sessions and grid work. I personally use a Tourmalated Quartz wand as my grid activator crystal.

Special Stones

Black Tourmaline:  As we read above, Black Tourmaline is revered as a premier talisman

of protection, a psychic shield deflecting and dispelling negative energies, entities, or destructive forces. It guards against radiation and environmental pollutants, and is highly useful in purifying and neutralizing one’s own negative thoughts and internal conflicts, turning them into positive, usable energy. Black Tourmaline is a powerful grounding

stone and helps to keep your feet planted firmly on the ground, which makes it invaluable when working with higher vibration energies or crystals and for activities like gridding, healing and meditation.  A shamanic stone, Black Tourmaline provides protection during ritual and journey work.  Wear Black Tourmaline to protect against negative energy and intentions from other people and to ward off intrusions and psychic vampires.

Blk Tourmaline.jpg

Golden Healer:  Golden Healer is actually a form of hematoid crystal. But rather than
being red as we commonly think of when we hear the word "hematoid", the iron oxide creates a beautiful yellow or golden color. This amazing stone is a high vibrational crystal and master healer, being Clear Quartz at its heart with just the layering of iron oxide vibrating with the energy of a golden ray. Use this wonderful stone for all your healing needs; especially emotional and spiritual ones. This crystal can connect you to higher realms and the beings who reside there; whether angels or spiritual guides. It can raise your vibration to extremely high levels and acts as a catalyst for profound spiritual activation.  It can useful in finding your true path by shedding its golden light on the
right path for you at this time. This crystal can be used to energize and heal all the
chakras.  And like Citrine, a Golden Healer crystal can help you to manifest the things
you want in life. Very joyful, "sunny" crystal.

Golden Healer.jpg

Labradorite:  Labradorite is known as the Stone of Magic, a crystal of shamans, diviners, healers, and all who travel and embrace the universe seeking knowledge and guidance. Use Labradorite for self-discovery, for awakening your awareness of your own inner spirit and higher self, and your intuition and psychic abilities. It is also one of the most powerful protectors of the mineral kingdom, creating a shielding force throughout the aura and strengthening natural energies from within. Labradorite protects against the negativity
and misfortunes of this world, and provides safe exploration into alternate levels of consciousness and is a powerful facilitator when desiring communication with higher guides and spirit helpers, in accessing Akashic records, and for psychic readings
and past-life recall.

Labradorite.jpg

Lodolite:  Lodolite is a kind of inclusion quartz, which means that is has varying colors
and forms of inclusions within the stone. The inclusions are most commonly comprised
of the minerals feldspar, chlorite, and hematite, which give the stone its particular coloring.  These inclusions frequently look like gardens, landscapes, and underwater scenes.
For this reason, Lodolite is often called scenic quartz, garden quartz, and landscape
quartz. Lodolite is also known as the Shaman's Stone because it enables Shamanic practitioners to journey into the other worlds to bring about visionary or healing experiences. This amazing stone has a wonderfully warm, loving and gentle energy when carrying it, wearing it, or simply being in its presence. But it has an incredibly powerful energy when used for any of its many other purposes, including visualizing, manifesting, meditating, healing, or scrying. Lodolite can help raise your consciousness to higher
levels and strengthens your communication with benevolent spiritual beings as well as
with your own higher self.

Lodolite.jpg

Mahogany Obsidian:  Mahogany Obsidian is  known as the "Remover of Obstacles".  Specifically, it is said to remove energy blockages (including our own negative thoughts) that limit or hinder us somehow. With a strong link to the Earth's energy, Mahogany Obsidian is excellent for stabilizing and grounding and helps to keep one balanced. Similarly, it can boost our critical thinking levels, particularly in emotional areas, so that emotional thinking becomes more stable and rational. When used in these ways Mahogany Obsidian is said to help reach one's full potential in all areas. Mahogany Obsidian is a wonderful too to use with meditation as well as in dream work, gently helping us to see those things that are limiting our potential (Obsidian in general is a
"see the truth" stone. However, Black Obsidian can do so in a very harsh manner. Mahogany Obsidian has a much more gentle and nurturing way to do this). It is also
used to open one's mind so that we see and act from a state of abundance rather than one of scarcity, which in turn, can open one to more opportunities for prosperity.
This amazing stone is  associated with both the root and sacral chakras.

Mahogany%20Obsidian_edited.jpg

Rainbow Moonstone:  Rainbow Moonstone is not a moonstone at all; it's a Labradorite. White or Clear Labradorite to be specific. And as such, has many of the same qualities
as it's darker brother. Considered a highly spiritual stone, Rainbow Moonstone is believed to bring balance, harmony and hope while enhancing creativity and compassion. Like it's brother, this stone  protects us from negativity. Rainbow moonstone is said to help strengthen intuition and psychic perception, especially offering us visions of things that aren't immediately obvious. With this increase in perception and dissolving of illusion,
we are able to see things more clearly. It's like a flash of inspiration that comes when
we are quiet and open to it. For these reasons, Rainbow Moonstone is known as a transformational stone.

Rainbow Moonstone.jpg

Shungite:   Shungite is an incredible stone for grounding, purification, and transformation. This 2 billion year old stone of almost pure carbon is known to help in the treatment of physical health ailments (there are studies proving the antioxidant effects of Shungite),
as well as boost mental health and instill positive energy. This ancient stone of wisdom activates the Earth Star Chakra and connects us to the heart of the planet, allowing the vibration of the Earth’s consciousness (Gaia) to travel up the central energy channel (Sushumna in Indian culture) and
open and align the root and crown chakras (like
Kundalini energy). Shungite shows us how to stay fully balanced in our body, mind,
heart and spirit and asks us to release old emotional wounds or outdated beliefs we
may hold (anything “toxic”), and embrace a life that simply feels good. Additionally, Shungite teaches us to recognize
and move away from people and activities that are
toxic to our emotional
health and embrace those things that are good for us. Shungite is exceptional for clearing the aura and chakras and helps us stay firmly centered in our personal power. It is also a powerful protector against all types of negative energy and electromagnetic smog (barrier filter qualities).

Shungite.jpg

*Barrier Filter qualities: Generally refers to the ability of a crystal to block geopathic stress, absorb or block microwaves and cell phone emanations, and protect against electromagnetic pollution. Can also refer to the ability to deflect any toxic energy from any source including from people and negative entities.

Resources

Two great resources to find out more about the geologic properties of minerals and crystals is mindat.org (mindat is short for mineral database) and gemdat.org (gemdat is short for gemological database).

Mindat.org is the world's largest open database of minerals, rocks, meteorites and the localities they come from.

Mindat.org is run by the Hudson Institute of Mineralogy, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in the United States as an entity dedicated to the discovery, study,

and preservation of mineral species and their history, and to increasing public awareness and appreciation of the mineral kingdom through outreach and education.

Gemdat.org is an online information resource dedicated to providing free gemological information to all.
