The Human Energy Field
There is so much more to a human being than merely the physical form. Our physical
body is just one piece of our entire being. We also have what are known as subtle energy bodies. Because these subtle energy fields vibrate at higher frequencies than the physical body they are not easily seen using our usual physical senses. Some people, however, are able to detect them, usually through sensing them or “seeing” (through their Third Eye)
the various colors they display.

The Aura: Our energy field is known as our aura and consists of seven layers. Each layer
of our auric field vibrates at a higher and higher frequency and extends a little further out from the physical body than the previous level. In addition, each layer of the field has a different function (we'll get more in depth on this topic in the course).
The aura or energy field can be weakened by things like stress, poor diet, lack of sleep,
lack of exercise, anger, worry, fear, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc. Additionally, everything
we do or think affects the aura. Remember, thoughts and emotions are energy. This
energy is constantly being fed out to our auric field. Negative thoughts and feelings
that are not cleared or resolved within a reasonable amount of time will eventually transfer back into the physical body and manifest as disease or illness.

Our auric field is also affected by the energies of the environment, the various energetic fields of the planet, and radio frequencies (EMF’s). As humans create more devices that
emit these kinds of energy, we are, in reality, damaging ourselves by bombarding our
subtle energy field with dangerous emissions.
While this all sounds a bit dire, consider that once you know the actions or things that
put you at risk, you can take steps to mitigate them. For example, the benefits of eating
a healthy diet and exercise have been around for a long time and so may seem a bit
cliché. We all think, “Yeah, I know. I need to watch my cholesterol.” But understanding
how these things could be affecting you energetically lends a completely different perspective to it.

Chakra Connection: The chakras act a bit like relay stations or translation devices, communicating energies from the environment and our subtle energy fields into our physical bodies as well as communicating energy from within our physical being out to
our subtle energy fields and beyond. If the chakras are blocked, energy is not flowing.
We must have a smooth flow of energy (communication) in both directions to maintain
our health.
The Heart is the Key: I want to take a little space here to talk about the heart and the
brain. In the section on chakras I mentioned that in Western culture (our culture),
we tend to favor the brain over the heart. We believe that everything should be thought out (to the nth degree) and if you “think” with your heart you are weak or vulnerable.
I also said, “That can’t be further from the truth.”

There is a new field in science and medicine called neurocardiology. The doctors and scientists in this field study the heart/brain interaction. Within this area of study, the Institute of HeartMath is at the forefront of the investigations.
The current research has discovered some truly interesting and paradigm-shifting information. I’ll try to describe it as briefly as I can and not lose the gist.

First, the heart’s electromagnetic field is very strong extending to a measurable radius
of 15 feet from the body. It is found to be a full spectrum field, including radio waves
and light and can influence one’s DNA.

In addition, when the brain entrains to the heart waveform (instead of the other way
around as scientist long believed), an electrocardiogram of the heart brain combinations shows that the brain wave patterns are, in fact, embedded within the larger field of the heart. The timing of neuronal firing conveys several times more information than the brain alone (this means the brain thinks more or better). The body’s immune system is also boosted, the effect of disorders is reduced, and overall healing rates are enhanced.
On the other hand, when the heart is entrained to the brain’s waveform, the heart begins
to, over time, lose coherence. The more the heart entrains to the brain, and the longer
it does so, the less it displays a variable HRV (Heart rate variability or HRV is the physiological phenomenon of variation in the time interval between heartbeats.
It is measured by the variation in the beat-to-beat interval), the less fractal its processes
are, and the more regular it is (“regular” is not good in this case).

Unhealthy emotional states (depression and panic disorders, for example) correlate
with reduction in HRV as well as reductions in the power spectral density of the heart
(power spectral density refers to the range and number of electromagnetic waves
produced by the heart).
Now here is the amazing part: For a human to be healthy, the heart must remain in a
highly unstable state of dynamic equilibrium! To do this, the brain must entrain to the heart. We literally were built with the heart as the main power source and the main
driving source. I remember reading somewhere the following statement that I think
sums this up: “Thoughts may be steering the car, but emotions are the engine that
drives the vehicle!”
Torus Fields: As quantum-physicists learn more about energy systems in the universe, another interesting fact arises. Most energy systems in the entire cosmos are in the
shape of a torus. The torus is an energy dynamic that looks a bit like a doughnut – it’s a continuous surface with a hole in it. The energy flows in through one end, circulates around the center and exits out the other side. You can see this energy pattern in atoms, seeds, cells, flowers, trees, animals, humans, hurricanes, planets, suns, and even galaxies.

Scientist and philosopher, Arthur Young, explained that a torus is the only energy pattern
or dynamic that can sustain itself and is made out of the same substance as its
surroundings – like a tornado, a smoke ring in the air, or a whirlpool in water.

In a human, the toroidal energy field has its center in; you guessed it, the heart. This
piece of information is going to come up again when I do my class on manifestation.
In fact, it will be at the very heart of it. *laughs* sorry, couldn’t resist. But seriously,
knowing and understanding how the human energy field works is a real game-changer
We’re also going to talk about torus energy again in the section on crystal grids. The energy generated from a crystal grid is a torus. Knowing this can allow you to achieve
more success with your gridding efforts. But more on that later.

Layers of the Auric Field: So let’s turn the discussion to the seven layers of the human
subtle energy field.

Let me just point out that even though the picture below shows the energy field as having distinct layers with specific widths, in actuality they tend to flow together at their edges
and are always moving and shifting slightly making a width measurement impossible (and irrelevant). The drawing is just meant as a representation and on that level, is fairly accurate.
Etheric Body: As you can see, the first layer or layer closest to the body is called the
Etheric Body. This layer vibrates most strongly with the Root Chakra and is the template
for most of the physical structures of the body.

Emotional Body: The second layer is called the Emotional Body. This layer vibrates
most strongly with the Sacral Chakra and is the template for most of our behavioral
feelings and emotions.

Mental Body: The third layer is called the Mental Body. This layer vibrates most strongly with the Solar Plexus Chakra and is the template for our mental processes.

Astral Body: The fourth layer is called the Astral Body. This layer vibrates most strongly
with the Heart Chakra and is considered the bridge between the first three layers and
the last three layers.

Etheric Template: The fifth layer is called the Etheric Template. This layer vibrates most strongly with the Throat Chakra and is the template for our ability to communicate
(Both in the physical and in the spiritual) as well as our artistic expression (think about
how related those two actions are).

Celestial Body: The sixth layer is called the Celestial Body. This layer vibrates most
strongly with the Third Eye Chakra and is the template for our psychic gifts, as well as
our talent for insight and intuition.
Ketheric Template: The seventh layer is called the Ketheric Template. This layer vibrates most strongly with the Crown Chakra and is the template for our connection to our higher self as well as to higher beings such as spirit guides, angels and so forth.
On the next page of the website, we’re going to look at some of the things you can do using crystals to help keep your energy unblocked and flowing smoothly. If you recall
from above, blocked or tainted energy can eventually manifest in your physical body
and/or mind as illness or injury.

We'll cover these topics in more depth in the Crystal Healing Course.
