Full Description
The meaning of the Tree of Life varies slightly from culture to culture. However, a common theme they all share is the idea that a mystical tree connects the physical and spiritual worlds.
The Celtic Tree of Life was connected to the underworld through its roots. Its trunk existed in the physical world and its high branches reached the heavens. So, for the Celts, the Tree of Life symbolized the connection between the world of human beings with that of the gods and spirits.
Additional meanings of the Tree of Life include oneness and connectedness, which makes sense given the information above. It also represents family and ancestry. Think of all the sayings and phrases in our language that link family to tree symbolism. For example, people should “know their roots”. Or, the “the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree”, and so on. Self-growth, groundedness, prosperity and flexibility are also some of the more common meanings associated with the Tree of Life.
Note: Fabric grids are often made and painted by hand and the design is affected by the type and quality of the fabric. Therefore, the designs may have missing spaces, uneven sections, or splotches. This is part of the natural charm of the piece and does not affect its purpose or beauty.
